LIFESTYLE PROPOSALS FOR FALL 2013

We opened 2013 with another slew of fashion weeks, and all the theatrics that come along with them: SELLOUTS, MORE PR DISASTERS AT YSL, and DESPERATE STREET STYLE PICS. 

A handful of designers transcended the bullshit though, producing collections of not just clothes and STUFF but actual ideas of HOW TO LIVE. These were handbags with more 

resonance than horoscopes, and styling choices with more insight than any therapist. 

Here are two of my five picks of the best LIFESTYLE PROPOSALS FOR FALL 2013, 

with a song to get you in the zone.

PRADA

Prada has a wonderful ability to introduce us to a completely new persona each season with absolute clarity and conviction. This time round was no exception. Here was a show in which almost every look was off the shoulder, and that spoke volumes. Miuccia was bestowing a woman so ruthlessly confident in how bedraggled she is that it was almost intimidating. She's drunk enough to forget she's half way through dying her hair, throw on a mink, and run out for a snack. Oh and did I mention she's a billionaire? She's DEFINITELY a billionaire.

LV took the trans-seasonal trend to an extreme by producing a collection of sexy slips and sheer nighties for the colder days of the year. I've never really been a fan of monogrammed bags and Louis Vuitton blah blahs but the sass of this show was flabbergasting. Where there were once logos and stupid heels there was now NIPPLES and FLUFF. Jacobs seemed to be piggybacking on the ideas established at Prada, in fact a flesh and blood connection was almost clear. Was the Louis Vuitton woman the sister of whom we saw at Prada? Was she even more wasted? Did she give even less of a shit? Yes. YES YES YES
